Two women, separated by a generation but bound by a story worth sharing, set out to make a book to accompany an exhibition.
An Keuning-Tichelaar was born in 1922 in Makkum, a small harbor town close to Witmarsum, Friesland, The Netherlands. Married in 1944 and the mother of three children, she and her husband made their Mennonite parsonage a refuge for children, young people and adults in need. An died in 2016.
Lynn Kaplanian-Buller was born in 1949 in Heron Lake, Minnesota, USA. She and her husband raised two children within three cultures and are owners of the American Book Centers in Amsterdam and The Hague, The Netherlands. Lynn is active in her local Mennonite congregation and in Rotary.
