Persons displaced by war and calamities flee to a future away from devastation. Hundreds of thousands seek refuge and a new start. Europeans are giving them comfort and support, emergency shelter and opportunities for a future in which they can start to feel at home.

Refugees and their need for relief goods have always been with us. The exhibition of the quilts shows how meaningful it can be when people reach out with practical help by making and giving goods and care.

The twenty quilts and the biographical book, experienced together, quilt-like, are part of that never-ending story. Their history is once again, 70 years later, relevant. An's biography and the twenty quilts inspire us to offer, again in 2016, compassionate support and care.
